Driver who Fatally Hits Smith Suffers Critical Injuries
The collision took place about 11:55 a.m., west of 20th Street East.
As per the article, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the Southern California Edison employee was fixing a power box when at the same time a black BMW 740 headed west on Avenue K left the roadway.
The worker was then hit by the car and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified in KTLA as 56-year-old Gerald Joseph Smith, of Quartz Hill.
Meanwhile, the driver of the BMW was rescued from the vehicle and then transported to a hospital where he was listed in critical condition. He was described as a man in his 20s.
The cause of the fatal incident remains under investigation.
