SPRING VALLEY, California (March 27, 2016) – A fatal head-on collision was reported Sunday afternoon on Jamacha Boulevard, near Highway 94, according to FOX 5 News.
The crash involving a GMC SUV and a Toyota Camry took place at about 12:30 p.m.
As per the article, California Highway Patrol said an elderly couple was on their way home in a Toyota when the SUV which was headed southbound veered into northbound traffic lanes and struck them.
The elderly victims were rushed to Sharp Memorial Hospital, where the woman, who was a passenger at the time, later died.
Per NBC News San Diego, the victim was later identified Clementine Scott James, 67.
James’s husband was treated for minor injuries.
Meanwhile, the SUV driver sustained a broken leg and was also hospitalized.
Fox 5 News added that all parties involved were wearing seat belts during the accident. The incident remains under investigation.
