West Coast Iron Employee Killed in Spring Valley Industrial Incident
SPRING VALLEY (October 3, 2018) – A worker at a steel company was killed after an accident on Jamacha Road Wednesday morning, according to San Diego Union-Tribune and NBC San Diego.
The incident took place at about 10:20 a.m.
As per the reports, Occupational Safety and Health Administration said a man in his 20s was working at West Coast Iron on Jamacha Road when for an unknown reason I-beams fell from a truck.
Steel Company Worker Hit by Metal Beams in Spring Valley
The employee was then hit and crushed by the iron beams. He was found without a pulse and not breathing between two trucks.
Officials affirmed that the victim was immediately transported to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead. His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
The accident remains under investigation to determine whether or not workplace violations contributed to the tragedy.
