Bicyclist Killed in Early Morning Collision Near Stanford Stadium

STANFORD, Calif. (June 2, 2025) — A Stanford University student riding an electric bicycle was struck and killed by a vehicle early Saturday morning near the Stanford University campus, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The fatal crash occurred at approximately 2:57 a.m. on May 31st at the intersection of Palm Drive and Arboretum Road, just west of the Stanford Stadium. Emergency dispatchers initially received a report of a vehicle versus bicyclist collision.

CHP officers arrived on scene within minutes, with multiple units responding throughout the early morning hours. The bicyclist, identified as Aradshar Chaddar by a relative, was pronounced dead at the scene. There were early indications that the young man may have been transported to Stanford Hospital, but the CHP confirmed no such transport occurred.

The Stanford student, whose nickname was “Chad,” was born in Maryland but lived in a small village of Mano Chak in rural Punjab, Pakistan, according to an Instagram post. “I plan to pursue political science and international relations at Stanford on the pre-law track, but am also passionate about exploring creative writing, literature, and China studies,” he wrote in August 2023.

Stanford Traffic Investigation

Meanwhile, the vehicle involved was a Honda Accord, which was later towed from the scene by National Towing and Transport. Officers noted no immediate evidence of additional hazards or contributing factors at the scene, though an investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.

“This area has marked bike lanes in all directions,” said Attorney James Johnson. “Police will need to determine whether any traffic violations were involved and contributed to the collision.”

At this time, there is no information regarding whether drugs, alcohol, or speed were factors in the collision.

Anyone with information related to the incident is urged to contact the California Highway Patrol’s office.
