Disney Has History of Ride Malfunctions, Slip and Fall Accidents

ANAHEIM, Calif. (Feb. 27, 2018) -- Disney is preparing to open its much-anticipated Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at the Disneyland theme park sometime in 2019.
The new 14-acre themed attraction will bring to life Star Wars characters and stories on the fictional planet of Batuu, a remote trading port in outer space. At this time, few details have been disclosed about the types of rides, but one attraction will be some sort of Millennium Falcon flight simulator.
So far this is the largest single-theme expansion created for the Disneyland park.
As you may expect, the theme park anticipates record crowds for its latest themed land.
The already-packed Disneyland certainly has had its share of slip and fall accidents, ride malfunctions and incidents over the years. While most incidents are minor in nature, there has been a well-documented history of serious injuries and even deaths at the popular Anaheim theme park.

Fatal Disneyland Accidents

Some of the worst incidents included the death of a woman in 1984 on the Matterhorn, the Big Thunder Mountain death in 2003, the 1998 death of a guest on the Sailing Ship Columbia and the 1979 death on Space Mountain.
Certainly, every precaution will be taken to ensure the safety of visitors, but anytime you have large crowds and mechanical rides there can be malfunctions, breakdowns and human errors that lead to injuries.
