Stephany Cartagena-Bronfield, 26, Killed in South Los Angeles Crash on 110 Freeway

SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (August 2, 2021) – Stephany Cartagena-Bronfield was killed after a DUI crash on the 110 Freeway in South Los Angeles.

The coroner’s office said the 26-year-old Los Angeles woman died following the collision which took place on Sunday.

The incident began when Stephany Cartagena-Bronfield was riding as a passenger in a 2014 Hyundai Elantra on the southbound 110 Freeway in South Los Angeles.

Wamervee Walton, 30, Arrested For DUI

The California Highway Patrol said a 2017 Buick Regal hit the Hyundai on the freeway at Slauson Avenue. KTLA News and My News LA wrote that the two cars crashed on August 1 at about 4:40 a.m.

Paramedics arrived and then pronounced Stephany Cartagena-Bronfield and the man driving the Hyundai dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, CHP determined that the driver of the Buick was under the influence of alcohol when he struck the victims. Officers soon arrested the motorist, 30-year-old Wamervee Walton, for DUI.

The fatal South Los Angeles crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call the CHP’s Central Los Angeles area office at 213-744-2331.
