Stephen Court, 50, Victim in Pedestrian Hit-and-Run on I-580
SAN LEANDRO (May 11, 2018)– According to the San Jose Mercury News, Stephen Courtway, 50, of Oakland, has been identified as the man killed after a hit-and-run on I-580 Thursday evening.
California Highway Patrol officials were notified of the collision at 10:07 p.m. near 150th Avenue.
Preliminary investigation efforts indicate that Courtway had been walking along the right-hand shoulder heading east on westbound I-580 before being struck by an undisclosed driver and vehicle.
The driver failed to stop and proceeded to flee the scene leaving Courtway behind with grave injuries.
Paramedics arrived and rushed the Oakland man to Eden Hospital, where he sadly succumbed to his injuries.
At this time, authorities have not provided any further information as the investigation is ongoing to identify the type of vehicle involved and ultimately the suspect responded.
