Stephen Martin, 71, Killed in Guerneville Crash at River and Bonita
GUERNEVILLE, CA (January 31, 2023) – Stephen Martin was killed after a crash at River Road and Bonita Avenue in Guerneville.
The coroner’s office identified the 71-year-old man as the victim of the fatal wreck which took place last week on Wednesday.
The incident happened when Stephen Martin was driving a Chevrolet Blazer S-10 east on River Road, approaching Bonita Avenue, in Guerneville.
At the same time, a GMC Canyon was traveling at an unsafe speed west. The California Highway Patrol said the GMC then swerved sharply into the eastbound lane.
Speeding Driver Hits Another Car
In the process, the Canyon slammed head-on into the Chevrolet. The Press Democrat wrote that the collision occurred on January 25 at about 10:45 a.m.
Stephen Martin died at the scene of the crash. CHP added that a passenger in the GMC sustained major injuries as a result of the accident.
The speeding driver, a 39-year-old Guerneville man, survived the incident with minor injuries. Medical personnel rushed both patients to the Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The cause of the Guerneville crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call the CHP 707-588-1400.
