5 Hospitalized After Collision on Highway 89
Sierraville, CA (August 1, 2022) – Stephen Reikes, and several others suffered injuries following a car accident that occurred on Highway 89 on July 29.
The Plumas News reported Reikes, a 54-year-old man from Livermore, was behind the wheel of a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado heading south on SR-89. According to the article published online, a northbound vehicle veered into the opposite lanes and collided with the Chevrolet. The crash took place around 5:28 p.m.
Multiple Good Samaritans and off-duty law enforcement personnel rendered aid to the victims.
When rescue teams arrived at the site, they found both cars rolled to the low side of the road. Officials added the two vehicles came to rest against a rock wall on the east side of the highway.
Major Car Accident in Sierraville
Our sources mentioned five people, including Stephen Reikes, sustained injuries as a result of the wreck. Paramedics airlifted the patients to Renown Medical Center for further treatment and evaluation. The names of the other victims remained undisclosed pending confirmation.
Investigators later revealed the driver of the wrong-way vehicle fell asleep, leading to the crash. Detectives continue to gather several information surrounding the traffic accident that happened on Highway 89 in Sierraville.
