Driver, 71, Dies in Collision Near Miramonte Drive Sunday
Santa Barbara, CA (November 17, 2021) – Steven Doyle Carlson, a 71-year-old Santa Barbara resident, suffered fatal injuries following a car accident that occurred on West Carrillo Street.
On November 14, Sunday, two vehicles collided head-on near Miramonte Drive.
Preliminary investigation revealed Steven Carlson was driving a Mercedes sedan on West Carrillo Street at about 8:20 p.m. According to the Noozhawk News, the catastrophic incident tok place when a Nissan sedan veered into the opposite lanes. The Nissan apparently drove into the path of the vehicle driven by the 71-year-old Santa Barbara man. The two cars ended up crashing head-on.

When emergency crews arrived, the immediately rendered aid to all possible victims. The article published online mentioned paramedics rushed Steven Carlson to the hospital for treatment. Sadly, the patient succumbed to his injuries and died several hours after the collision. The Santa Barbara Police Department confirmed the identity of the deceased as Steven Doyle Carlson.
Authorities mentioned the driver of the Nissan sedan showed signs of intoxication. After the investigation, police arrested the motorist on suspicion of felony driving under the influence causing death and vehicular manslaughter.
Further investigation on the case is underway.
