Steven Drake, 71, Seriously Injured in San Marcos Hit-and-Run on Woodland Parkway
SAN MARCOS, CA (April 15, 2021) – A hit-and-run crash seriously injured Steven Drake along Woodland Parkway in San Marcos.
The San Marcos Sheriff’s Station identified the 71-year-old man as the victim of the accident which occurred on April 1.
The incident happened when Steven Drake was riding a bicycle in the northbound bike lane on Woodland Parkway, approaching El Norte Parkway.
Deputies said for an unknown reason a vehicle then struck the elderly bicyclist from behind. Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene, north of Fulton Road.

They found Steven Drake left lying on the ground as a result of the collision. Medical personnel rushed him to Palomar Hospital in Escondido for treatment of a traumatic brain injury.
Drake was initially placed on life support. According to the San Diego Union-Tribune and Oside News, officers reported the crash shortly before 8 p.m.
Meanwhile, deputies affirmed that the driver did not stop to render aid to the cyclist and soon fled the area. They described the car involved as a silver 2013-2016 Audi A4 with S4 trim line.
The car possibly sustained front passenger side damage upon impact. It ended up missing its passenger side fog light bezel and passenger side headlight washer cover following the collision.
Authorities are still searching for the suspected hit-and-run motorist. Anyone with information can call the the San Marcos Sheriff’s Station at (760) 510-5295 or the Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
