 Steven Foster Injured Santa Cruz Crash Highway 9; Steven Taggert Killed

1 Killed, 1 Injured in Santa Cruz Car Accident

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (July 25, 2023) – Steven Foster, 31, of Boulder Creek, suffered major injuries in a fatal Santa Cruz County crash on Highway 9 between Spring Creek Road and Douglas Avenue.

The driver, Steven Taggert, 34, of Boulder Creek, died in the solo-vehicle traffic accident at 5:08 p.m. on Sunday, July 24th, according to CBS News and the California Highway Patrol.

The two men were traveling together in a red 2003 Toyota Tundra pickup truck on Highway 9. The driver reportedly veered off the highway and collided with a tree. The vehicle overturned and both occupants suffered major injuries.

Paramedics transported both men to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center where Steven Taggert later died due to head trauma.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash, but early indications are that alcohol may have been a factor.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but alcohol is suspected to be a factor, the CHP said.
