1 Killed, 4 Hurt in Collision on Highway 154
Santa Ynez, CA (October 12, 2022) – Steven Mon, and Katha Penny both suffered injuries following a car accident that occurred on Highway 154.
According to Lompoc Record News, multiple vehicles collided on the highway just west of Meadowvale Road. Earlier reports indicated a 2013 Ford C-Max compact multipurpose vehicle was traveling on SR-154 Sunday morning. Officials said the driver of the Ford came upon slow and stopped vehicles in the area near Meadowvale. Preliminary investigation revealed the driver of the Ford swerved into the westbound lane to avoid hitting the other vehicles in front of him.
The article published online mentioned the Ford collided with a westbound 2020 BMW X5. Due to the force from the impact, the Ford spun uncontrollably and ended up crashing head-on into a 2008 Toyota Highlander.
Shortly after 10:25 a.m., rescue teams arrived at the location. Responding paramedics rendered aid to all parties involved. After the evaluation, medical personnel sadly pronounced the driver of the Ford dead.
Authorities added the driver of the Toyota, 52-year-old Steven Mon; and the driver of the BMW, 60-year-old Katha Penny, both suffered injuries as a result of the wreck. Per local news source, emergency crews transported Mon and his two other passengers to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment.
Several factors surrounding the incident remained unclear. At this time, detectives continue to investigate the precise cause of the fatal crash that happened on Highway 154 in Santa Ynez.
