STEVINSON, Merced County (February 27, 2017) – A pedestrian was seriously injured in an alleged hit-and-run collision on 3rd Avenue Monday night, according to California Highway Patrol dispatch team.
The incident took place about 8:11 p.m., just west of Rosa Road.
In an article by Merced Sun-Star, CHP said 28-year-old Nathaniel Fleming was walking west on 3rd Avenue when he was struck by a vehicle.
Fleming suffered major head injuries following the accident. The Hilmar man was then transported to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto where he remained in the intensive care unit.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the driver involved sped away, heading west. Pieces of the suspect car’s side mirror were found at the scene.
Authorities are still gathering more information and evidence to locate the hit-and-run motorist.
