Victim of Crash Identified as Oceanside Man: Stewart West, 22
LAKE ELSINORE, California (August 22, 2017) — Stewart West, 22, of Oceanside was killed in a head-on crash Sunday morning on the Ortega Highway 74, just east of Morrell Canyon Bridge, according to the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner.
The fatal crash took place about 10 a.m. between the victim’s motorcycle and an SUV near Tenaja Truck Trail.
Police say the motorcycle was heading eastbound and the SUV was traveling westbound on Ortega Highway when the two collided for unknown reasons.

Fatal collisions are numerous on this meandering mountain stretch between that connects Orange County to Riverside County.
Motorcyclists are often victims of the fatalities as they are frequent travelers through this area where the destination is often the Ortega Oaks Candy Store hangout.
The cause of this particular collision has not been disclosed by authorities, but often one driver will veer into the path of the other as they wind their way through the mountains here.
Police will conduct an investigation into liability and issue a report determining who is at fault.
