Double Fatal Rollover Crash 5 Freeway in Stockton
STOCKTON, Calif. (Feb. 6, 2019) — Two people were killed Wednesday morning in a solo-vehicle car accident in Stockton.
The crash took place about 5:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the 5 Freeway, just south of Charter Way, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol.
The driver in a Honda was allegedly speeding and recklessly weaving in and out of traffic prior to the collision. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle and it veered off the roadway to the right shoulder where it overturned multiple times. The vehicle ended up landing in a ravine.
The driver and passenger who were in the vehicle were ejected in the rollover crash. Police stated they were not wearing seat belts and they both died at the scene of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
