Construction Worker Killed in Hit-and-Run Collision Near I-5
Stockton, CA (April 8, 2023) – A 34-year-old man died following a suspected DUI crash that occurred on State Route Highway 4 Tuesday night, April 4.
According to articles published online by KCRA and ABC10 News, a construction worker was cutting concrete at a road closure on SR-4. The closure restricted access to northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 5 Freeway.
Preliminary investigation revealed a 21-year-old Stockton woman driving a silver Honda Accord drove through the cones and plowed into the construction zone. Officials said the Honda hit the construction worker.
Deadly Car Accident on State Route 4 in Stockton
The force from the impact resulted in serious injuries to the victim. Despite life-saving efforts performed by responding paramedics, the 34-year-old man sadly succumbed to his injuries and passed away. The identity of the deceased remained undisclosed pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
Per local news source, the female driver fled the scene but was found by police at her home. Officers arrested the woman on suspicion of manslaughter; driving under the influence; and hit-and-run.
