Tow Truck Operator Hit and Killed by Car on 5 Freeway in Stockton
STOCKTON (December 27, 2018) – A tow truck driver was killed after an alleged DUI crash along the 5 Freeway early Tuesday, according to Record Net and Sacramento Bee.
The accident took place on December 25 at about 2 a.m., north of Matthews Road.
As per the reports, California Highway Patrol said the tow truck male operator was loading a vehicle onto his truck on the right-hand shoulder of the northbound 5 Freeway when he was hit by a 2001 GMC.
The GMC driven by 25-year-old Kylle Thomasson spun out of control and struck the victim and the truck.

CHP affirmed that the truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, the GMC rolled over and ultimately slammed into two other vehicles on the freeway. Thomasson, who was believed to have been drunk driving at the time, was reportedly medically cleared after the wreck.
He was later arrested on suspicion of felony manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Thomasson is a Stockton musician who was a contestant on American Idol. The Stockton man is being held at the San Joaquin County Jail with a bail set at $1.1. The investigation is ongoing.
