At Least 1 Hurt in Traffic Collision on 5 Freeway Saturday
Stockton, CA (October 5, 2021) – A suspected hit-and-run crash occurred on the Interstate 5 Freeway on October 2, Saturday, the California Highway Patrol group reported.
Initial records indicated an accident between two vehicles took place in the southbound side of the freeway near Downing Avenue onramp. Officials described the cars involved in the wreck as a black Ford Mustang and a gray sedan.
Preliminary investigation revealed the Mustang was speeding prior to the collision. The force from the impact resulted in major damage to the gray sedan.

Per CHP log, the Mustang continued driving following the incident. Officials believed the hit-and-run suspect exited the freeway at Downing Avenue.
Medical personnel arrived at the location shortly after 6:10 p.m. According to the CHP dispatch, at least one occupant in the gray sedan suffered injuries as a result of the wreck. The name of the victim and their condition at this time remained undisclosed pending confirmation.
Detectives assigned to handle the case continue to investigate several factors surrounding the hit-and-run crash in Stockton.
