Stockton Major Traffic Collision on I-5 Freeway North, Near Downing Avenue

STOCKTON, Calif., (July 30, 2026) — A major injury traffic collision was reported in Stockton late Wednesday evening on the northbound Interstate 5 Freeway at the Downing Avenue off-ramp, involving a gray Toyota Sienna and an unidentified gray SUV.
The two-vehicle crash occurred on July 29th at approximately 11:56 p.m., with emergency responders quickly arriving at the scene. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) logged the incident under number 0458, initially categorizing it as a traffic collision requiring an ambulance before updating it to a major injury collision.
Witnesses reported that the occupants of the vehicles involved were outside their vehicles following the crash. A red Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck was also pulled over in the No. 1 Lane.
Emergency services, including Stockton Fire Department and several towing companies, were notified and responded promptly. The scene required advanced towing services, indicating significant vehicle damage.
