Civilian Injured After Police Pursuit Ends in Car Accident on SR-99 Sunday
STOCKTON, Ca (June 22, 2020) – One person suffered injuries following a traffic collision on Highway 99 Sunday, the Recordnet News reported.
At approximately 10:50 a.m., a deputy patrolling through the Days Inn parking lot on Waterloo Road spotted a suspicious Mercedes SUV with temporary license plates. The officer ran the plate, and it came back as stolen vehicle out of Tracy.
The deputy then approached the vehicle, but a male and a female party came out of the car and started walking away.
Shortly after the brief pursuit, the female suspect managed to get into the stolen vehicle again and she drove away. The woman went onto Waterloo Road and entered Highway 99 going the wrong way.
Officials said due to safety concerns, the deputy terminated the pursuit.
Moments later, the stolen vehicle collided with a civilian car on the highway. Authorities confirmed one civilian suffered injuries as a result of the mishap. A land ambulance transported the patient to a local hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.
Amy Wulbern, Tyler Huntley Arrested in Stockton Car Crash
Investigators later found the female suspect, 39-year-old Amy Wulbern, who evaded on foot following the crash. Furthermore, police identified the male suspect as 29-year-old Tyler Huntley. Both Wulbern and Huntley were taken into custody in relation to the accident.
The California Highway Patrol is the agency handling the investigation.
