Street Racing Suspected in Norwalk Crash on Rosecrans Avenue

NORWALK, Calif. (Sept. 1, 2026) — One person is dead and more than a dozen vehicles were damaged Tuesday morning in Norwalk in a possible street-racing crash on Rosecrans Avenue near Longworth Avenue, according to police.

The deadly collision occurred around 12:52 a.m. on Sept. 1st when an eastbound driver rear-ended another motorist and both vehicles overturned multiple times, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. A third vehicle traveling behind these two motorists crashed into several parked vehicles. All three of the vehicles were heavily damaged in the crash.

One driver was found inside their overturned vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. A second driver and two others were injured in the violent crash.

Meanwhile, the high-speed collision led to the vehicles hitting roughly a dozen other vehicles parked along the street, authorities said. Those vehicles had extensive damaged and debris scattered throughout the roadway.

Detectives working on the case believe there may be a street racing connection, but that was not yet confirmed.

Authorities closed down Rosecrans Avenue between Studebaker Road and Harvest Avenue.
