Boy, 15, Critically Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash
FRESNO, Calif. (Oct. 5, 2022) — A 15-year-old boy suffered major injuries Tuesday night when a driver struck him in front of Hoover High School.
UPDATE: Rashad Al-Hakim Jr., 15, of Fresno, died at the hospital, according to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Dept.
The student was crossing the street around 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4th in front of 5550 N. First Street, according to the Fresno Police Department. Responding police officers located the teenager in the middle of the roadway, but the driver had fled.
Paramedics responded and rushed him to Community Regional Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.
Meanwhile, roughly 20 minutes later, Lisa Ellen Spoors, 39, of Fresno, called police to report she struck something in the road. Police met the woman in a parking lot at Walgreens near Bullard and First Avenues.
Authorities are investigating whether the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash.
The investigation into the pedestrian hit-and-run crash is ongoing.
