2 Killed in Tragic Incident Below Parking Structure in East Village Area
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (April 26, 2021) — A man jumping to his death from a public San Diego parking structure in the East Village area also killed a 30-year-old woman Sunday when he landed on top of her.
Taylor Daneen Kahle, 29, of San Diego, was walking with a male friend just before 7:25 p.m. at J Street and Tenth Avenue near Petco Park, San Diego police said.
The woman suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene in the 400 block of 10th Avenue, but the suicidal man died shortly afterwards at a hospital, police said. The only San Diego parking structure in this location is the Padres Parkade, but police did not specify the precise location.
Meanwhile, the woman’s male companion was uninjured in the incident. The man and woman were walking home after eating dinner at a downtown restaurant. The innocent victim and the suicidal man did not know one another, according to San Diego 7 News.
Authorities are investigating the tragedy. Liability for the woman’s wrongful death is yet to be determined.
