Summer Wheaton Involved in Deadly Fourth of July Crash on PCH in Malibu

Social Media Influencer was Wrong-Way Driver in Malibu Crash

MALIBU, Calif. (July 9, 2024) – Social media influencer, Summer Wheaton, was involved in a Fourth of July crash that killed another driver and injured their passenger on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.

Two vehicles were involved in the head-on collision just after 11 p.m. on Thursday, July 4th, according to the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station and MyNewsLA.

It happened in the 22000 block of Pacific Coast Highway, west of Carbon Canyon, police said.

Summer Wheaton was driving a white 2019 Mercedes Benz sedan travelling eastbound on Pacific Coast Highway when for unknown reasons she crossed into the path of a black 2020 Cadillac Escalade.

The two vehicles collided head on and the driver from the Cadillac suffered major injuries. Unfortunately, the motorist was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Meanwhile, both the driver of the Mercedes and a passenger riding in the Cadillac Escalade also had major injuries. Paramedics transported them both to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center for treatment.

Authorities closed down all traffic lanes on Pacific Coast Highway in the area due to the crash and investigation.

The Los Angeles Times reports Summer Wheaton was a licensed real estate agent who more recently has marketed herself as a “founder, speaker and wellness advocate.”

She had an Instagram account with more than 100,000 followers and promotes products on Amazon, but after the Malibu collision the account was made private.

She is also CEO and founder of a healthy snack vending machine business as well as another startup company.

The deadly Malibu crash remains under investigation.
