Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Summerland Crash on Northbound Highway 101
SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, CA (July 8, 2021) – A motorcyclist was seriously injured after a crash on Highway 101 in the Summerland area.
According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch team, the accident took place on Thursday morning. Officers reported the wreck at about 8:53 a.m.
CHP said the rider of a black Harley-Davidson motorcycle collided with the rear of a tan Acura RDX in Summerland. The two crashed for an unknown reason on northbound Highway 101 near the Ortega Hill Road on-ramp.
Motorcycle and Car Collide
The impact threw the motorcyclist into the air and the victim landed between the barriers. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found the patient hurt as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then took that rider to a hospital for treatment of major injuries. Officials did not release the name of the wounded party and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP forced the northbound lanes of Highway 101 to shut down following the wreck. Authorities are still determining the cause of the Summerland crash.
