Man Struck on Golden State Freeway in Sun Valley, Suffers Major Injuries
SUN VALLEY, Calif. (Sept. 23, 2019) – A pedestrian was critically injured Sunday night when he was struck by a black SUV as he ran across the Golden State (5) Freeway in Sun Valley.
The crash took place on Sept. 22nd about 9:29 p.m. on the northbound side of the freeway at Lankershim Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Witnesses saw the man was walking across lanes starting on the right shoulder and walking towards the center divider, police said.
Police stated that the man may have been headed to a homeless encampment near the freeway. The pedestrian was transported to a hospital to be treated for major injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by police.
