Daniel Vail, 57, ID’d as Driver Killed in Crash
SUN VALLEY, Los Angeles (October 22, 2016) – According to an article by Los Angeles Daily News, 24-year-old Nicole Castaneda sustained injuries, while an alleged DUI driver died in a car crash on Interstate 5 freeway at Highway 170 transition.
UPDATE: Daniel Vail, 57, of Simi Valley was later identified as the suspected DUI driver.
As per the report logged by the California Highway Patrol team on October 22, Saturday, two to three vehicles got involved in a crash that occurred at about 10:05 p.m.
The article mentioned a 2005 Saturn Ion was driving erratically on the road before slamming into the center divider. The impact caused the vehicle to spun out of control, resulting in a collision with passing vehicles. The Saturn eventually came to a rest in the carpool lane facing the wrong way.
Officers later identified Castaneda, driver of a 1997 Toyota Camry struck in the DUI crash. Castaneda was provided treatment at the scene by responding medics.
Meanwhile, the alleged drunk driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Further investigation is ongoing to determine charges and liabilities.
