Crash on State Route 237 Involving Children Causes Major Backup
Sunnyvale, CA — (April 15, 2025) — A two-vehicle crash on westbound Highway 237, just east of the Lawrence Expressway off-ramp caused significant traffic delays Tuesday morning in Sunnyvale.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported the collision around 8:58 a.m. on April 15th involving a white Chrysler Pacifica van and a dark-colored Audi SUV. Both vehicles were left disabled, blocking multiple lanes — including the #2, #3, and #4 lanes — in the middle of the freeway.
At least four juveniles were reported to be in one of the vehicles at the time of the crash. Although initial reports classified the incident as a non-injury collision, the status was quickly upgraded to require medical assistance, with paramedics on their way by 9:00 a.m.
Emergency services, including the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety, were dispatched to the scene.
Traffic was heavily impacted during the morning commute as authorities worked to clear the scene. No further details have been released regarding injuries or the cause of the collision.
The incident remains under investigation by CHP.
