Passenger Dies at Hospital After Collision Near Mathilda Avenue
Sunnyvale, CA (December 1, 2022) – A 61-year-old man suffered fatal injuries following a traffic accident that occurred on State Route Highway 237, the CBS News reported.
Officials said the elderly male was a passenger in a 2007 Lexus ES 350 driven by a 62-year-old woman. Preliminary investigation revealed the driver took her eyes off the road for an unknown reason. When the woman looked back onto the road, she was surprised to see traffic stopped in front of her. Our sources indicated the driver hit her brakes but still crashed into the rear of another car.
Deadly Car Accident on Highway 237 in Sunnyvale
Shortly after 6:50 p.m., rescue teams arrived at the location. Responding paramedics found the male passenger suffering in injuries after slamming against the back of the front passenger seat. Due to the serious condition of the man, medical personnel rushed him to Stanford Medical Center. On Thursday, the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office announced the death of the patient. Officials said the 61-year-old man succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Pending confirmation and notification of next of kin, the name of the deceased remained undisclosed.
Several factors surrounding the incident have not been discussed thus far. At this time, detectives continue to investigate the precise cause of the deadly car crash that happened on State Route Highway 237 in Sunnyvale.
