SUNNYVALE, California (March 9, 2017) – An on-duty police officer was hospitalized after a traffic collision Thursday afternoon at El Camino Real and Mathilda Avenue, according to San Jose Mercury News.
The accident took place at 3:35 p.m.
As per the article, Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety said a female officer was traveling in the area with her lights and sirens activated when the patrol car she was in and a pickup truck collided. The officer was responding to an emergency call at the time of the crash.
The officer was then transported to the hospital to be treated for injuries described as non-life-threatening. Her name was not immediately released.
Meanwhile, the man driving the pickup was unharmed. Authorities are investigating the cause of the incident.
