Man Struck by Car on Oct. 30 Dies in Hospital Nov. 5
SAN JOSE, Calif. (Nov. 10, 2021) — Surjit Ghumman, 81, of San Jose, died Friday, roughly a week after being struck by a car Oct. 30 crossing McLaughlin Avenue.
The fatal pedestrian accident happened about 7:49 p.m. on Oct. 30 on McLaughlin Avenue, just north of Tully Road in San Jose, police said.
Authorities believe the pedestrian was walking between crosswalks on McLaughlin Avenue when the driver of a 2007 Honda sedan struck him.
Paramedics rushed the injured man to a local hospital, but despite efforts to save his life he died on Nov. 5th. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office identified him as Surjit Ghumman.
Meanwhile, the Honda driver stopped following the collision and cooperated with authorities. Police did not make any arrests or give the driver a citation.
