SIMI VALLEY, Calif. (Dec. 19, 2018) — Susan Burk, 62, of Simi Valley, has been identified as the crossing guard killed this week in a multi-vehicle collision, according to the Ventura County coroner’s office.
The crash took place on Tuesday about 2 p.m. when she was struck by a blue 2013 Chevrolet Cruze as she stood on the northwest coroner of Los Angeles and Socrates avenues. The Cruze ended up on the front yard of a nearby home. Two other vehicles, a dark Chevrolet and a silver Kia, were involved in the collision that took place about a block south of Arroyo Elementary School.
Paramedics rushed the injured woman to a trauma center, but two hours later she died of her injuries, police said.
The crossing guard was not working at her regular intersection and had just come back on the job in the past month.
