Suspect Arrested in Fatal Fresno Hit-and-run Bicycle Accident on Clinton Avenue
Paul Sanchez, 33, Died in the Collision
FRESNO, Calif. (Feb. 29, 2024) — Police arrested a suspect from a fatal hit-and-run bicycle accident on Clinton Avenue in Fresno that killed Paul Sanchez, 33, earlier this month.
The deadly crash occurred on Saturday, Feb. 10th at East Clinton Avenue and North Van Ness Boulevard in Fresno, according to the Fresno Bee.
Steven Garcia, 59, from Fresno, was arrested on Monday morning Feb. 26th on suspicion of felony hit and run, tampering with evidence and driving without a license or insurance, according to the Fresno Bee.
Witnesses told police officers the driver in the dark-colored vehicle fled the scene without stopping to help the victim. The suspect was last seen traveling east on Clinton Avenue towards Wishon Avenue.
Meanwhile, authorities found the bicyclist down on the sidewalk with major injuries and paramedics transported the man to Community Regional Medical Center. Unfortunately, Paul Sanchez died the next day at the hospital.
