1 Killed in Sutter County Head-On Crash on Reclamation Road
SUTTER COUNTY, CA (April 22, 2021) – One was killed after a head-on crash along Reclamation Road in Sutter County.
The incident began when a big rig hauling 20 tons of anhydrous ammonia was going north on Reclamation Road in Sutter County. It was traveling behind a slower-moving Dodge Ram 150 towing a boat at the time.
The California Highway Patrol said the tractor-trailer tried to pass the Dodge. In the process, the semi-truck collided head-on with a 1997 Ford Ranger heading south.

Both vehicles became fully engulfed in flames upon impact. Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and confirmed that the driver of the Ford died as a result of the collision.
CHP added that the big rig overturned, causing hazardous materials to leak onto the roadway. The operator of the semi and the motorist in the Ram ended up unharmed upon impact.
The name of the deceased party remains unreleased pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, officials forced Reclamation to shut down between Tisdale and Pelger roads following the wreck.
The fatal Sutter County crash is still under investigation.
