Multi-Car Accident on State Route 20
SUTTER, Calif. (July 5, 2023) — A head-on crash in Sutter on Colusa Highway 20 happened Wednesday morning at Acacia Avenue between several motorists.
A 30-year-old man, his unborn child and a his dog all died in the collision, but his wife survived.
The collision occurred around 8:31 a.m. on July 5th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported the drivers of a black Chevrolet Tahoe SUV, a Nissan Versa and a Ford F-150 pickup truck hauling a dump trailer were among as many as four vehicles involved in the wreck.
The driver in the Nissan reportedly crossed the double yellow lines into the path of the SUV and crashed, the pickup truck hit the back of the Tahoe.
The man driving the Nissan, his pregnant wife were trapped in the wreckage. The man was taken to Sutter Roseville Hospital where he later died. His wife was taken to Adventist Health Rideout where their unborn child was pronounced dead. The couple’s dog died at Northpointe Animal Hospital.
Also, the driver in the Tahoe suffered minor injuries. The vehicle lost its left wheel during the collision.
Meanwhile, tow trucks removed the Nissan and the Tahoe SUV.
Investigators are working to determine fault for the Colusa Highway 20 crash in Sutter. Witnesses to the collision can call CHP investigators at 530-645-6200.
