Toddler Injured in Accident on I-5 Freeway
SYLMAR, Calif. (August 11, 2023) — An alleged DUI driver was arrested after a Sylmar injury crash on the Interstate 5 Freeway happened Friday morning near the 14 Freeway transition.
The two-vehicle collision happened around 1 a.m. on August 11th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Man Arrested, 2-Year-Old Critically Injured
CHP officials reported one of the drivers was arrested on suspicion of DUI after the collision. Authorities did not release the man’s identity, KTLA 5 News reported.
The second vehicle was occupied by a mother, father and their a 2-year-old child who may have been ejected from the vehicle and critically injured.
Paramedics responded and rushed the injured toddler to a hospital where they are listed in critical condition.
There were no other injuries immediately reported at this time. The Sylmar crash on the 5 Freeway remains under investigation to determine fault.
