3 Killed in Wrong-Way Car Crash on 5 Freeway
DATE OF COLLISION: Friday, December 28th
December 28, 2018 – Several people were killed, and two parties were injured following a multi-vehicle collision on the Interstate 5 Freeway early Friday, according to KTLA News.
At approximately 3:25 a.m., a southbound 1998 Honda Accord veered into the opposite lanes and slammed into a northbound 2017 Ford Mustang on 5 Freeway transition road to the northbound 14 Freeway.
Primary reports indicated the 18-year-old Palmdale woman, who was riding as a passenger in the Mustang, was hospitalized with major injuries sustained in the crash. That woman was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.

Following the initial impact, the Mustang was pushed and forced to hit a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu. Both the drivers of the Mustang, and the Chevrolet suffered injuries as a result of the impact.
Meanwhile, officials mentioned the driver and passenger of the wrong-way car were also killed in the accident. The driver was only described as an adult male party, while the passenger was briefly identified as a 49-year-old Long Beach man.
After the collision, northbound lanes of the 5 Freeway connecting with the northbound 14 Freeway were closed. Detectives stayed at the scene until about 8 a.m. to investigate the deadly crash.
At this time, the identities of the deceased parties remained undisclosed pending notification of next of kin.
