
2 Injured in Taft Crash on Highway 119 Near Midway
TAFT, CA (March 3, 2023) – A car and big rig crash left two people injured on Highway 119 near Midway Road north of Taft.
According to the Taft Midway Driller and Bakersfield Now, the accident took place on Thursday morning. Officers reported the wreck on March 2 at about 6 a.m.
The incident happened when a big rig and a sedan collided for an unknown reason near Taft. The two crashed on Highway 119 between Midway Road and Harrison Street.
A California Highway Patrol dispatch added that the semi-truck was pulling a 40-foot box trailer at the time. The car came to a stop on the east side of the road and caught fire.
Car and Big Rig Collide
The big rig landed on its side against an embankment on the west side of the roadway. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene.
They found the drivers of both vehicles who ended up hurt as a result of the collision. Medical personnel then provided treatment to the patients for the minor injuries they sustained in the wreck.
The names of the wounded parties and their condition at this time were not disclosed. Meanwhile, CHP forced a stretch of Highway 119 to shut down between Midway and Harrison following the wreck.
The cause of the Taft crash is still under investigation.
