2 Men Injured in Taft DUI Hit-and-Run at Tenth and San Emidio Streets
TAFT, CA (January 10, 2022) – Two were hospitalized after a DUI hit-and-run crash at Tenth Street and San Emidio Street in Taft.
According to an article published by the Taft Midway Driller, the accident took place on Sunday evening. Officers reported the wreck at about 6:50 p.m.
The incident happened on January 9 when a 2022 Toyota Camry was going south on Tenth Street, approaching San Emidio Street, in Taft.
Taft police said the Toyota then stopped at the intersection. In the process, a 2004 Ford Mustang approached and slammed into the back of the Camry.
Drunk Driver Hits Another Car
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene. They found the two occupants of the Toyota hurt as a result of the collision.
The 19-year-old man driving the Camry and his passenger, a 22-year-old man, complained of pain upon impact. Medical personnel took them to a Bakersfield hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.
The report did not disclose the names of the wounded victims and their condition. Meanwhile, the driver of the Mustang did not stop to help and fled the area.
They soon located the man in the 100 block of Taylor Street and determined he was under the influence of alcohol when he hit the other car. Taft police arrested him for DUI and hit-and-run.
Taft police forced the corner of Tenth and San Emidio streets to shut down following the wreck. The Taft DUI hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
