Passenger Killed in Car Accident on Highway 41 is Identified
Fresno, Calif. (October 7, 2020) – Tamika Davis, 21, of Fresno, has been identified as the passenger who died Sunday in a suspected DUI collision on Highway 41 in Fresno.
The Fresno Bee reported that Davis was riding in a Buick LaSabre driven by Catherina Monson. The car was traveling north on SR-41 approaching the Highway 180 transition, but Monson reportedly lost control of the car and crashed into the center divider.
The vehicle to overturned and landed in the northbound lanes of SR-41 about 6:20 p.m.
Paramedics responded and found the passenger gravely injured. Sadly, she died at the scene and was later identified by the Fresno County Sheriff Coroner.
Police arrested Catherina Monson following the incident on suspicion of felony DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. She was also transported Monson to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment of unspecified injuries. Later she was booked Monson into the Fresno County Jail.
Further investigation on the fatal DUI car crash is ongoing.
