Tammy Monterroso, 27, Seriously Injured in Rosamond Head-On Crash
ROSAMOND (August 7, 2018) – A driver was hospitalized after a fatal traffic collision on Mojave Tropico Road on Monday evening, according to The Antelope Valley Times.
The motorist, 27-year-old Rosamond resident Tammy Monterroso, was a victim of a tragic accident which which occurred at around 5:55 p.m., just north of Rosamond Boulevard.
As per the article, California Highway Patrol said Monterrosco was driving a 2017 Honda Civic south on Mojave Tropico Road when she was struck by a 2007 Ford Focus.
The Ford Focus driven by 27-year-old Katlyn Alyse Whempner was traveling north at an undetermined speed when for an unknown reason it veered onto the dirt shoulder during a curve in the roadway.

Whempner appeared to have tried steering her car back into the northbound lane, but instead over corrected. The Rosamond woman then crossed the northbound side of the road where she collided head-on with the Honda.
CHP affirmed that Monterroso was taken by ground ambulance to Antelope Valley Hospital with a severe cut to her right leg. She was reportedly wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash.
Meanwhile, Whempner was ejected through the passenger side window of her vehicle which spun in a counterclockwise manner upon impact. She died as a result of the wreck.
The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
