Tania Godinez Valencia Santa Ana Pedestrian Accident on 17th Street
SANTA ANA, Calif. (July 13, 2023) — Tania Godinez Valencia, 17, died after a Santa Ana pedestrian accident Monday afternoon at 2000 West 17th Street.
The major injury collision occurred around 2:42 p.m. on Monday, July 10th, according to the Santa Ana Police Department and news reports.
Police officers responded to the scene after multiple 911 calls reporting the collision.
Santa Ana police officers located the pedestrian in the roadway along with paramedics with the Orange County Fire Authority.
They transported the injured pedestrian to a local hospital where she was listed in critical condition, but died two days later at the hospital, according to a GoFundMe created to help the family with funeral costs for Tania Godinez Valencia. She is survived by her parents and two brothers, the account said.
Police say the teen was walking in a north direction as she crossed 17th Street. A westbound vehicle struck her in the roadway.
Police do not suspect alcohol and or drugs were a factor, but investigators continue to work on the case to determine fault.
The Santa Ana Police Department’s Collision Investigations Unit (CIU) is handling the investigation.
