Truck Crash Blocks Interstate 5 Freeway Near Boyle Heights
LOS ANGELES (Nov. 24, 2020) – Tanker truck overturns today on top of an SUV on the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway in the Boyle Heights area.
The traffic accident was reported at about 6 a.m. on Nov. 24th near Main Street, according to the California Highway Patrol. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded and transported one person to a hospital in unknown condition.
Tanker Truck Overturns on I-5 Freeway
The truck, loaded with 80,000 pounds of milk, was blocking all the southbound lanes and resting on its driver’s side after the crash. The tanker’s back end landed on the passenger side of a white SUV. Additionally, a black pickup truck had front-end damage and was stopped some distance from the other two vehicles. It’s unknown what led up to the collision involving a total of two vehicles and the tanker truck.
Meanwhile, traffic was backed up behind the crash scene as cleanup crews took away debris and the vehicles were towed.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the CHP.
