TARZANA, California (March 6, 2017) — Three people were hospitalized including two pedestrians Sunday afternoon when they were struck by a suspected DUI driver at 5540 North Yolanda Avenue, according to a report by the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The crash took place about 3:15 p.m. yesterday near Clark Street. Police say the suspect driver was intoxicated and traveling at twice the legal speed when he plowed into the two pedestrians. The blue Honda Civic was traveling at an estimated 5o mph in a 25 mph zone. The vehicle was heading westbound on Clark Street when it struck several parked cars including one that was occupied by a woman. Paramedics responded to the scene and transported one person who suffered major injuries to a hospital. Two others including the woman in her car also were injured and all three people were taken to a hospital.
They are all expected to survive their injuries.
