Passenger Killed in Solo Crash on Highway 33
OJAI, Calif. (Oct. 20, 2022) — Taundra Galloway, 48, of Thousand Oaks, died Wednesday in a crash on Highway 33 in Los Padres National Forest just north of Ojai.
The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office released the woman’s name.
The Thousand Oaks woman was riding as a passenger in a 2001 Acura SUV. The 42-year-old Taft man was driving southbound on Highway 33 when for unknown reasons the vehicle went off the roadway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Additionally,, the vehicle crashed into a hillside and overturned in a remote area north of Wheeler Springs, the Ventura County Star reported. A passing motorist reported the crash around 4 p.m.
Authorities say Taundra Galloway suffered major injuries and died at the scene.
Meanwhile, paramedics requested a helicopter to airlift the injured driver to Ventura County Medical Center. Doctors treated him for major injuries.
Finally, the Ventura-area CHP office is investigating the cause of the crash.
