Florida Man, 25, Killed; Taylor McCready Hurt in Bicycle Accident
SLAB CITY, Calif. (Jan. 7, 2019) — A Titusville Florida man is dead and a 23-year-old woman critically was injured when they were struck by a pickup truck on Beal Road near The Range dance club, according to a CHP report.
The man was reportedly riding a bicycle and towing a cart with the woman, identified as Taylor Bing McCready, behind him. There was also a dog either in the cart or walking beside them. The man, woman and dog were all struk by the vehicle. The young man and the dog both died at the scene. The Grants Pass, Oregon woman, was take to Desert Regional Medical Center. The woman reportedly suffered a partial amputation to her leg as well as a fractured arm and lacerations to her face.
The driver in the pickup truck was identified as Kenneth Riggs, 39, of Niland. Police say he was driving approximately 50 mph when he struck the pair at about 7:52 p.m.
The cause of the collision is under investigation to determine fault. At this time, it’s unknown whether any criminal charges will be filed against the driver due to the ongoing investigation.
