Teen Hit on E-Scooter on Peach Avenue in Fresno Dies at Hospital

FRESNO, Calif. (July 23, 2026) — A 15-year-old Fresno student died after he was struck by a vehicle while riding an electric scooter on Peach Avenue near Sunnyside High School, according to authorities and his family.
Robert Peele, a student at Sunnyside, was riding eastbound on Lane Avenue Friday evening when he entered the intersection at Peach Avenue, police said. Investigators said Peele entered the intersection against a red traffic signal.
A sedan traveling north on Peach Avenue struck the scooter, according to police.
Peele was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. He died from his injuries on July 22, according to his family.
The crash occurred one day before Peele’s 15th birthday.
Sunnyside High School is planning a balloon release in Peele’s honor at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
