Teen Killed in Bicycle Accident at Balboa Avenue in San Diego

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Sept. 14, 2026) — Owen Timothy Harris, 14, of San Diego, died in a traffic accident while riding an electric bicycle on Balboa Avenue near Oliney Street in the Pacific Beach area of San Diego.

The teenager, an 8th-grade student at Pacific Beach Middle School, was riding his e-bike when he was hit by a westbound sedan on Balboa Avenue around 9:20 p.m. on Sept. 12th, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner report.

Paramedics responded and rushed the injured boy to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, but sadly he died shortly after his arrival at the hospital.

The San Diego Police Department is handling the investigation.
