Teen Killed in Hit-and-run Crash on Twentynine Palms Highway Identified

Joshua Alexander Barreras, 16, Killed in Hit-and-run Pedestrian Collision

YUCCA VALLEY, Calif. (Feb. 6, 2024) — Joshua Alexander Barreras, 16, died Jan. 31st in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Twentynine Palms Highway near Avalon Avenue in Yucca Valley.

The Yucca Valley teenager was found by San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department deputies as they were traveling westbound on Twentynine Palms Highway. The deputies saw the male teenager on the ground in the center median, the San Bernardino Sheriff-Coroner reports.

Joshua Alexander Barreras had been struck by a vehicle, but the driver was not at the scene.

Paramedics rushed him by ambulance to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries, the report said.

The SBCSD Morongo Station is heading up the investigation and working to locate the suspect who fled the scene.
